The wind orchestra at the Sœur Jumelles festival

Share

The meeting of a legendary accordionist, Félicien Brut, who has made his instrument a guest soloist of choice, and France’s oldest wind band (it was created in 1848!), the French Republican Guard Orchestra.

It’s an unprecedented combination for an event that puts the spotlight on cinema, with works by Ennio Morricone, Vladimir Cosma, Michel Legrand, Leonard Bernstein and Pietro Mascagni.

Lovers of the accordion will be delighted to hear pieces by Astor Piazzolla and Richard Galliano, not forgetting the talented young Thibault Perrine, who has become a fixture in the repertoire.

The concert will be conducted by François Boulanger, who has been at the helm of the French Republican Guard Orchestra since 1997. The maestro has already shared the stage with the accordion genius, in 2022 at the Théâtre du Châtelet, with the Orchestra in its symphonic formation. A triumph!

So it’s both a premiere (with the wind Orchestra) and a reunion, with the accordionist and conductor working in perfect harmony, that awaits us on this promising evening.
